Dear Dads
Share what makes your dad the best in the world...

Dear Dads is a book for anyone that has to be a father figure. And we need to write it together.

I’d love your help to collect examples of the amazing things our dads do and have done.

Maybe you didn’t realise at the time how much love or thought or wisdom went into a seemingly simple act of parenthood. But now, with the benefit of hindsight, maybe you do.

And that love and thought and wisdom is something that can provide dads and dads-to-be everywhere with inspiration.

All you have to do is write it down here on this site (you can do it anonymously)and your experience can one day help someone's dad.

Our shared stories will come together in the Dear Dads book, which will be published for Father’s Day 2025.

The best bit is that all profits will go to children’s charities. What's not to like?

Thank you very much,

Why?

My own father passed away when I was ten.

I never really had the full dad experience, and thought I’d missed out on learning what it was to be a dad. Turns out that I’m not alone.

However, during lockdown I realised that everything you need is right there. If you play, and take the time and really listen, your family will paint in any gaps.

So I thought, why not ask loads of people what their dad did that made him (or her*) the best there could ever be? What if I collect the wisdom and share it? It’s got to spread some good, hasn’t it?

Dear Dads came about because my dad wasn’t there to pass his wisdom down to me. But this project, this book and wherever it takes us, will pass your experiences on to every dad; every father figure that is and is yet to be.
*My sister's been a single parent for twenty years and every father’s day she gets cards. And actually, this is about anyone that has ever had to be a father figure, really anyway.

You

The project doesn’t really work without you (and your dad).

You’re the one that experienced the love and thought and wisdom of your dad. You're the one that can pass this on.

So, it's all a bit pointless without you, really.

Don’t worry about spelling, structure and all that malarkey. Just write from your heart and say what you really mean...share something that your dad did that showed his love and thought and wisdom.

THANK YOU.

Share Dear Dads

The wider this travels, the more diverse the stories we hear will be.

Please let someone else know; they too will have a story to share that at some point, somewhere, might help make a magical moment between father and child that will last forever. That's got to be a good thing.

Thank you!
